Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using appropriate techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration processes under supervision, ensuring proper handling and adherence to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or memory impairments, implementing tailored approaches for comfort and safety.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans in various settings such as acute care units, behavioral health facilities, or home & community care environments.
- Maintain infection control standards by practicing proper hand hygiene, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhering to hospital protocols including Level I trauma center or ICU procedures when applicable.
- Assist with medical procedures like catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, and basic life support during emergencies or urgent care situations.
Experience
- Prior experience working in healthcare environments such as hospitals (including Level I trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living communities, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and patient records management.
- Experience caring for patients with complex needs including behavioral health issues, infectious diseases, or post-acute recovery is advantageous.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy to support effective patient monitoring and care delivery across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as CPR or medication administration are a plus.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and infection control practices essential for safe patient interactions.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine units or urgent care clinics while maintaining high standards of patient service.
