What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at Ashe County Schools?
Ashe County is seeking to hire substitute teachers! We have substitute teacher positions open currently to be filled immediately!
In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student progress, maintains safety, and manages the learning environment. The substitute teacher is responsible for communication with the classroom teacher who is absent in order to implement lesson plans consistent with the teacher’s pacing for their classroom.

Substitute Teacher Job Description
Qualified Applicants:
- A 2-year degree or higher is preferred
- Must have completed or be able to complete "Effective Substitute Teacher Training" unless applicant is a licensed educator
- Must have a postive attitude
- Must be able to implement lesson plans in a variety of subject/grade level areas
- Must be a team player
- Must adhere to all Board of Education policies
