The Role
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant or Cook to support the preparation and service of high-quality meals for our residents. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
Kitchen Assistant - Key Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation as directed by the Chef.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas, including washing up and sanitising equipment.
- Support with serving meals and drinks as required.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Report any maintenance issues, incidents, or accidents to the Head Cook.
Cook - Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve balanced, high-quality meals in line with residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
- Support the Head Chef in menu planning, stock control, and ordering supplies.
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene, safety, and HACCP standards.
- Assist in supervising and training kitchen staff as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment at all times.
- Adapt meals for residents with modified or specialist diets.
- Contribute to a positive dining experience that promotes residents’ wellbein
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, ideally within a care or hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of dietary needs and nutritional requirements for older adults.
- Food Hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above).
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a small team.
- Passion for creating delicious, comforting food that residents enjoy.
