Wellbeing Navigator

I. Purpose 

The Wellbeing Navigator advances ASHA’s commitment to a healthy and supportive employee experience by helping staff navigate health, wellbeing, benefits, leave, and workplace accommodation needs. The position connects employees with information, resources, and support that help them make informed decisions, access appropriate care and benefits, and maintain their wellbeing at work.

II. Key Responsibilities 

1. Health and Wellbeing: Promote employee wellbeing by providing resources, education, and individualized support that encourage healthy behaviors and help employees address health and wellbeing needs.
2. Healthcare and Benefits Navigation: Help employees understand and navigate healthcare and benefit resources, including identifying appropriate services and resources based on individual needs.
3. Leave and Disability Support: Guide employees through leave and disability processes, including explaining available benefits, coordinating required information and documentation, and helping employees understand what to expect throughout the process.
4. Workplace Accommodations: Facilitate workplace accommodation requests and related processes, helping employees and managers identify reasonable and effective workplace solutions consistent with organizational practices and applicable requirements.
5. Wellbeing Programs and Resources: Develop, coordinate, and evaluate wellbeing programs and resources that respond to employee needs and support physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.
6. Employee Engagement and Connection: Support initiatives, including employee resource groups and other opportunities for connection and learning, that contribute to a welcoming, supportive, and engaged workplace.
7. Contribute HR expertise and judgment to broader people practices and initiatives, including opportunities to improve HR operations, policies, processes, and the staff experience.

III. Position within ASHA 

IV. Autonomy & Decision Making: 

The Wellbeing Navigator independently manages employee wellbeing, benefits navigation, leave, and accommodation matters within established policies, practices, and applicable requirements. The position exercises judgment in assessing employee needs, identifying appropriate resources and next steps, and resolving routine and moderately complex issues. The incumbent recognizes situations requiring additional expertise, interpretation, or organizational decision-making and appropriately involves Human Resources colleagues. 

V. Qualifications & Skills

Qualifications: 

Knowledge typically acquired through:

• 3 or more years of relevant experience in employee wellbeing, benefits, leave administration, accommodations, healthcare navigation, human resources, or a related area.
• Education or training in human resources, public health, health education, nursing, benefits administration, or a related field.
• Professional certification or credential related to health education, wellness coaching, nursing, benefits, or a related discipline may be helpful.

Skills 

• Demonstrated knowledge of employee health and welfare benefits, healthcare navigation, leave, disability, and workplace accommodation practices.
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion and in accordance with applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to explain complex health, benefit, leave, and accommodation information clearly and compassionately.
• Demonstrated ability to assess individual needs, identify appropriate resources and options, and help employees navigate decisions and processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple employee matters and programs with sound judgment, organization, attention to detail, and appropriate follow-through.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and coordinate wellbeing programs and resources responsive to employee needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise initiative, recognize when issues require escalation or additional expertise, and bring matters to resolution.
