EHS Specialist – Manufacturing

About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support a growing manufacturing operation in Logansport, Indiana.
This is a highly visible, hands-on position for an EHS professional who enjoys working directly with employees, supervisors, engineering, maintenance, and plant leadership to identify hazards, improve processes, and strengthen a proactive safety culture.
The EHS Specialist will serve as the primary onsite EHS resource for the Logansport facility, with occasional support for another North American location.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day health, safety, and environmental programs within a manufacturing environment.
- Conduct incident investigations, root-cause analysis, risk assessments, audits, and corrective actions.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable environmental requirements, including recordkeeping and regulatory reporting.
- Develop and conduct employee training covering areas such as LOTO, machine safety, PPE, forklift safety, hazard communication, and contractor requirements.
- Work closely with engineering and maintenance on machine guarding, energy control, equipment installations, and workplace hazards.
- Assist with emergency preparedness, safety committees, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support environmental programs involving waste, chemicals, spills, emissions, and stormwater.
- Contribute to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management-system activities.
- Partner with plant leadership to identify opportunities to reduce risk and continuously improve workplace safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance.
- Demonstrated experience with safety training, incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments.
- Experience in metal stamping, heat treatment, coating, fabrication, or similar industrial operations is highly desirable.
- Experience with ISO-based safety or environmental management systems is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
