What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician position at ASCO Equipment?
Field Service Mechanic/Technician to repair and maintain heavy equipment such as but, not limited to front end loaders,excavators,backhoe,skid steers,forklifts,lifts,company vehicles, and other equipment on site and at customer locations. Must be able to repair and operate diesel, gasoline, electric, and hydraulic heavy equipment.
ASCO has career openings for Field Service Mechanic/Technician for our CASE Construction Equipment and Rental Equipment operation in Abilene, TX. Significant experience and training with Diesel Engines, Hydraulics or Advanced Electronics is required and this opening is only for those with experience with heavy equipment. - Able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics
- Able to repair, or replace major system components, including circuit boards and other electrical parts, hydraulic, mechanical, L.P. systems, power steering and transmissions, engines with limited supervision.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose most truck components
- Perform tune-ups on most makes of equipment without supervision
- Perform proper PM’s in a timely manner
- Be able to troubleshoot and diagnose most complex electrical systems
- Be able to use all special tools properly. Maintain and properly use the normal tools of the trade.
- Follows all safety procedures in performing work as well as company policies
- Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills
- Properly identify and order all necessary replacement parts
- Experience on Genie, JLG, or JCB equipment a plus
- Experience working on CASE, CAT, New Holland, Volvo Equipment as well as forklifts such as Crown, Clark, Cat, Toyota, Nissan, Yale, Manitou, Princeton, Doosan, Kalmar, and Hyster a plus
- Must have own tools to perform the duties as described
Qualifications and Skills
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
* Prefer High School Diploma/GED, Associate’s or higher degree.
* Good ability to communicate both orally and in writing
* Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area and maintain assigned ASCO vehicle
* Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and Customers.
* Ability to work within set time parameters
* Ability to professionally manage difficult customer situations
* Ability to manage the completion of work orders in a timely manner
* Knowledge of heavy equipment, skid steers and scissor lifts a plus
* Must furnish own set of tools suitable for and lift truck repair.
* Clean driving and safety record
* Ability to perform basic computer use such as but not limited to, e-mail, parts look-up, service log reports
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Must be able to continually lift and handle heavy loads up to 70 lbs.
* Must have good eyesight and normal hearing for diagnostics and troubleshooting equipment.
