Position Overview:
The Donated Vehicle Service Coordinator is responsible for interacting with donors, facilitating vehicle donations in an efficient and professional manner, coordinating the pick-up of donated cars, managing repair work, managing vendor/garage contracts, processing vehicles to programs and various venues, cleaning vehicles as needed, and all related paperwork and recordkeeping.
Essential Responsibilities:
Act as the first step in the vehicle donation process, including interacting with potential donors and mechanics.
Under the direction of the Program Leadership, coordinate logistics with donors, volunteer drivers, towing companies, vendors, contract garages, our Garage, and other GNG staff so that donated vehicles are received, transported, and processed cost-effectively and in a timely fashion.
In collaboration with the Program Leadership, execute all steps to provide clients with vehicles, including visiting garages and auction houses and transporting cars.
Provide excellent customer service, including responding to donor or recipient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Responsible for all weekly, monthly, and year-end reporting and ensuring the smooth flow of donations.
Maintain files, including those of donors and clients, while adhering to strict standards of confidentiality.
Work closely with garage staff and Program Leadership to determine whether to accept vehicles offered to GNG. Represent Good News Garage at community events as needed.
Act as a backup to the Program Manager as needed.
Work in close collaboration with the GNG team to ensure quality outcomes across GNG’s operating divisions.
Participate in organization committees (as needed).
Assist in volunteer coordination and oversight.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
High School diploma/GED required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a clear motor vehicle driving record.
Ability to drive standard shift vehicles preferred.
Must have basic knowledge of automobiles, automobile repair, and be comfortable communicating with garages and service advisors.
Prefer experience working in the automotive service industry, or equivalent.
Must have pleasant telephone manner and excellent customer service skills
Working knowledge of MS Office programs and basic computer skills (preferred); ability to learn new software programs as needed
Ability to make decisions and work independently
Ability to apply common sense to understand and carry out instructions or deal with problems at hand
Ability to respond to stressful situations in a calm manner
Ability to handle multiple tasks
