Senior Technical Program Manager -- NPI and Development

Ascentec Engineering, LLC
Tualatin, OR Full Time
POSTED ON 5/3/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/31/2025
Description

Ascentec Engineering is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead complex New Product Introduction (NPI) and development projects across our precision-machined semiconductor and aerospace hardware portfolios. This role requires deep technical acumen in manufacturing engineering and machining fundamentals, paired with strong project management execution skills to drive complex programs from early development through production release.

You will work cross-functionally across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams — proactively surfacing risks, coordinating mitigation, and ensuring readiness for successful manufacturing at scale. You will act as a technical interface with our world-class customers, where proactive risk management, technical judgment, and schedule execution are critical.

This is not a reporting-focused PM role — it is a hands-on technical program ownership role that demands real-time decision-making, manufacturing problem-solving, and leadership from concept through full production.

Important Note: This role is entirely focused on manufacturing and hardware-based project management. Candidates with primarily software development, IT project management, or SaaS delivery experience will not be considered. We are specifically seeking candidates with direct experience in machined metal assemblies, precision manufacturing, or hardware-based NPI programs within semiconductor, aerospace, or related industries.

Join us at Ascentec Engineering and be part of shaping the future of semiconductor and aerospace manufacturing excellence. We are building the future — one precision part at a time.

This position is on-site (not remote/not hybrid) and not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate NPI project execution for highly complex machined assemblies.
  • Own all program deliverables: manufacturing readiness, risk identification and closure, schedule tracking, customer communication, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Actively engage in technical problem-solving — provide manufacturing feedback, review designs for manufacturability (DFM), and drive proactive issue resolution.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans across multiple assemblies, tracking key milestones, resource needs, and risk mitigation paths.
  • Surface resource gaps, material risks, and supplier challenges early, driving escalations and solutions.
  • Represent manufacturing and program health in customer-facing reviews with technical credibility.
  • Establish and validate tooling and fixturing readiness for production success.
  • Drive and document Manufacturing Process Readiness (MPR), risk registers, and process flow validations.
  • Partner closely with supply chain and operations teams to ensure material flow and process execution support on-time NPI launch.
  • Standardize program management reporting and structure across multiple NPIs.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and technical roadmap strategies for continuous scaling and excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline (strongly preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of project/program management experience leading technical manufacturing projects (NPI, machining, or assembly-heavy builds).
  • Direct background in semiconductor or aerospace manufacturing environments (machined metal assemblies or subassemblies preferred).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, precision welding, leak testing, and material processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings and 3D models and identify manufacturability risks independently.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or comparable project management certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Microsoft Planner, and ERP systems (Epicor experience preferred).
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership skills; able to drive collaboration across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, technical rigor, and the ability to make real-time program decisions under pressure.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience interfacing directly with major semiconductor customers and/or aerospace clients.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor-specific challenges: precision assembly, particle control, DFx requirements.
  • Knowledge of aerospace compliance and quality standards will be strongly preferred.
  • Ability to build risk-based project frameworks and proactive contingency plans.
  • Experience coordinating complex manufacturing transitions (prototype to HVM).

Working Conditions

  • Frequent engagement with production floor and engineering teams.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites or suppliers as needed.
  • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job, absent undue hardship. The employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

Compensation And Benefits

  • $115,000 – $135,000 DOE, plus performance incentives
  • Medical / Dental / Vision
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4%
  • Tiered Quarterly Bonus Program
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Life Insurance
  • Paid time off / paid holidays
  • Employee Assistance Programs

Applicant must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check prior to employment.
