Position Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily manufacturing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role oversees production employees, ensures compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards, and drives continuous improvement in processes and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required:
LEADERSHIP
- Be actively engaged in and support a safety focused work environment by upholding the company’s safety guidelines and policies.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental rules, laws, and regulations.
- Work directly with and be responsible for the supervision of production employees.
- Execute daily production plan by establishing priorities, leading personnel, monitoring progress, resolving problems, and reporting progress on shift production summaries.
- Participate in incident investigations and assist in development and initiation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure all procedures and batch instructions are followed.
- Constantly monitor any possible issues on shift, such as product charging, incorrect material charges, process deviations, labeling, container weights etc.
- Provide clear shift handover reports and communicate critical information between shifts.
- Motivate and support high productivity. Ensure all employees are actively engaged in work.
- Support employee development by providing training, cross-training, and certification in all production areas.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and provide feedback to support employee growth and accountability.
- Foster a positive, motivated, and collaborative team culture.
- Monitor housekeeping and ensure production areas are kept clean, organized, and compliant.
- Support new hire onboarding and ensure employees are properly trained and integrated into the team.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
- Be knowledgeable, fill in and assist, as necessary, in all production processes and areas.
- Be able to immediately generate clear and concise reports of any issues on shift.
- Ability and knowledge to help troubleshoot and resolve production related issues.
- Attend and complete any scheduled online or in person training classes.
- Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), process hazard analyses (PHA), and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).
- Fill out maintenance work orders and follow up on maintenance needs to ensure safe and timely repairs.
- Actively participate in HR related issues as necessary.
- Review applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on a regular frequency.
- Requisition, Issue, and reconcile raw materials to batch jobs.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Verify and scan finished production into the necessary system.
- Monitor finished and raw material inventory and communicate gaps.
- Complete other tasks as directed by management.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:
Required:
- Strong commitment to safety
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience in chemical production or related field or degreed equivalent
- 2 years’ supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of organizational workflow and ability to delegate by assigning responsibilities.
- Ability to generate and submit reports on performance and progress.
- Proficiency with computers and computer software, such as with Microsoft Office and RMP systems
- Strong training skills to train new employees and train employees on all tasks
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated and results-driven
- Availability to work an 8-hour or 12-hour
- shift covering a 24/5 and 24/7 production schedules
- Ability to lift 55 lbs.
- Ability to effectively read, write, and verbally communicate in English.
Preferred:
- Experience in a PSM manufacturing environment
- Experience with PLC and/or DCS controls
- Direct knowledge of specific manufacturing processes
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
