Ascent Hospitality is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Clerk to join our team!

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the hotel's daily accounting and financial administrative functions, including daily deposits, accounts payable, cash handling controls, and financial recordkeeping. This position works closely with the General Manager, hotel department leaders, and Corporate Accounting to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.

Essential Functions

• Prepare, verify, and reconcile daily cash and credit card deposits.
• Perform daily cash counts, bank counts, and verification of hotel cash banks.
• Maintain accurate records of cash transactions, deposits, and discrepancies.
• Process accounts payable invoices, verify supporting documentation and coding, and submit for timely payment.
• Assist with vendor statements, invoice discrepancies, and payment inquiries.
• Review daily revenue reports and assist with identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain organized accounting records, invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with accounts receivable, direct billing, and collection follow-up as needed.
• Support payroll administration, inventory reporting, and month-end accounting processes as assigned.
• Assist department managers with expense tracking and financial documentation.
• Follow established cash handling procedures, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
• Coordinate with Corporate Accounting and hotel leadership to meet reporting deadlines.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
  
  
  

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Basic knowledge of accounting procedures, cash handling, and accounts payable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general computer applications.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Experience with hotel PMS, POS, or accounting systems preferred.
  
  
  

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional accounting education preferred.
• Previous accounting, bookkeeping, cash handling, or administrative experience preferred.
• Hospitality or hotel accounting experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with hotel departments.
• Dependable, professional, and committed to accuracy.
  
  
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive computer and office tasks.
• Ability to bend, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
