Dell Children's Medical Center is hiring for a ECMO Program Manager! Dell Children’s is rapidly expanding in all services provided, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). The ECMO program manager will help in the development and implementation of new services.

 

The ECMO Manager would be responsible for the day-to-day operational, clinical, and administrative duties of the ECMO program. This includes direct collaboration with the ECMO Medical Director, Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support and the Director of Critical Care in development, organization, evaluation, and advancement of the ECMO program. The program manager will also be responsible for maintenance of the program’s quality and regulatory standards.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, respiratory therapy or certification in perfusion strongly preferred 
  • 4 years of experience in critical care
  • 2 years of experience in ECMO management and education
  • 1 year of leadership or management experience required
  • Apheresis experience 
  • Strong leadership skills, interpersonal, and communicative skills
  • Commitment to continued education and self-development

As the Clinical Program Manager, you will be ensuring the best in class patient care and effectiveness of our Pulmonary Diagnostic EMCO program. Dell Children’s Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program is the only pediatric ECMO program in the Greater Austin Area.

Responsibilities

Manage the daily activities and operations of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) team.

  • Collaborate on problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new services, and system/performance measures.
  • Manage development and implementation of new ideas that support project work streams and clinical teams.
  • Monitor anticoagulation, electrolyte, acid-base balance and blood-gas composition values and adjusts ECMO circuit to maintain physician's orders.
  • Generate and compile appropriate documentation and charges related to ECMO. Precept new team members.
  • Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Perfusionist obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 2 years of experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
