Mechanical Piping Technician

Knights Mechanical is seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Piping Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, safety, and delivering reliable results on complex commercial and industrial projects.

What You’ll Do: 

• Select and install piping systems, supports, hangers, and related equipment according to project specifications 
• Review blueprints, drawings, and project plans to determine pipe routing and installation requirements 
• Coordinate piping layouts and installations with other trades on the jobsite 
• Cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install various types of piping systems 
• Install and support hydronic, refrigeration, chilled water, hot water, condenser water, and gas piping systems 
• Secure piping systems using brackets, clamps, supports, and hangers 
• Install and maintain HVAC and refrigeration system components, including compressors, pumps, controls, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air handlers, and rooftop units 
• Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing to identify and resolve leaks 
• Weld pipe supports and related structural components as required 
• Load, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment 
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition 
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety standards 
• Complete daily reports and documentation accurately and on time 
• Perform additional duties as assigned 

What You’ll Bring: 

• Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical piping systems 
• Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial piping installation practices 
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings 
• Knowledge of mechanical codes and industry standards 
• Strong mathematical and measurement skills 
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail 
• Basic computer skills for email communication, documentation, and project updates 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Journeyman Gas Fitter License and/or HVAC License 
• Welding Certifications (GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG, SMAW) 
• Experience with: 
• Chillers 
• Cooling Towers 
• Boilers 
• Air Handlers 
• Large Rooftop Units (RTUs) 
• Hydronic Piping Systems 
• Refrigeration Piping Systems 
• VRF Systems 
• Experience in commercial and industrial construction environments 

Physical Requirements 

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds 
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday 
• Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and elevated work areas 
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and active construction environments
