Position Summary:
The Electrical Apprentice is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in commercial construction projects. This role works under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Electrician or Foreman and is designed to provide hands-on training and skill development in the electrical trade.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation of electrical systems in new construction, tenant upfits, and remodel projects
- Support Journeyman Electricians with daily tasks and assigned work activities
- Learn to measure, bend, and install conduit, including EMT and MC cable
- Assist with wire installation, pulling wire, and operating basic equipment such as wire tuggers
- Help install fixtures, outlets, switches, and other electrical devices
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Assist with tool, equipment, and material accountability
- Follow all company safety policies and utilize required PPE at all times
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and develop trade skills
- Learn how to read and interpret blueprints and job drawings
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Meet productivity goals and project timelines as directed by leadership
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in an electrical apprenticeship program is a plus
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and construction environments preferred but not required
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Good communication and time management skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in physically demanding environments
- Ability to climb ladders, crawl, and work in confined spaces as required
- Ability to work in varying weather and job site conditions
Work Environment:
- Field-based role working on active commercial construction job sites
- Reports directly to a Journeyman Electrician or Foreman
- Opportunity for advancement through hands-on experience and training
