What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Community Manager position at Ascension Property Management?
Location: Round Rock / Austin, TX area (hybrid work from home on-site at communities)
Pay: $80,000/year performance bonuses
Job Type: Full-time
Potential Start Date: October 12, 2026
About the Role
We're looking for an HOA Community Association Manager to oversee a portfolio of established associations of single family homes in the Austin/Round Rock area.
This job is a great fit for an experienced community manager in our area that is burnt out from lack of support!
This is a hybrid job: on site and remote. You'll be out in your communities, meeting with board members and vendors, walking properties, and getting to know the people you serve.
We are open to you bringing in your own dedicated remote admin assistant if you already have good rapport and a history of working with that person.
Our goal is to free you from busywork. You'll have an assistant and support staff to take on much of the day-to-day routine and admin tasks. That frees you to focus on the work that matters most:
- Understanding what each community wants and needs
- Helping boards shape the future of their neighborhoods
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with boards, homeowners, and vendors
- Moving projects forward and bringing issues to resolution
As you probably already know, it's fun, it's a challenge, and you'll learn something new all the time. No two weeks look the same.
Opportunity for Growth
We're actively growing! The right person will have a clear path to Regional Manager, leading all property managers in the area.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the main point of contact for boards across your portfolio
- Prepare for and attend board, committee, and annual meetings (evening meetings are part of the job):
- A PM assistant will help agendas, notices, management reports, and follow-up on action items. You will attend meetings, present to the community, and ensure that action items coming out of a meeting are clearly communicated and actually get done.
- A compliance manager will conduct violation drives on a regular schedule, but difficult issues are escalated to you to negotiate and decide on, and you are the final responsibility to manage enforcement within Texas legal timelines and the governing documents of the association.
- Manage vendor relationships: You will have an assistant and a maintenance manager to get bids, book work orders, and follow up on bills. However, we’d like for you to shake hands with our vendors and collaborate enough to get top quality results for our clients.
- Weigh in on capital projects, maintenance issues, and reserve study updates and ensure they are done well. Again, a support staff is available to perform most of the routine tasks.
- Prepare annual budget drafts, review monthly financials, and explain the numbers clearly to boards. We have a competent Accounting team to create a first budget draft, prepare financials, and handle all but the most difficult collections matters.
- Oversee the status of collections, payment plans, and delinquency follow-ups, working with legal counsel as needed.
- Handle any in-person meetings required on site and have frequent phone and in-person check in meetings with board members.
- Ensure board members and home owners receive a response within 2 business days.
- Perform periodic site visits to ensure board directives are being performed and management is proactive instead of just reactive.
- Handle escalated homeowner concerns, mediate disputes, and find solutions that work for the community.
- Coordinate insurance renewals and legal/compliance matters with help of support staff.
- Onboard new board members as needed.
Who You Are
- A relationship builder. People are the most important part of everything we do. Boards trust you because you're responsive, honest, and follow through.
- Experienced, not jaded. You know what’s possible and can find solutions, but you also understand when someone is being reasonable or asking outside of the bounds of their client contract. You don’t automatically say no, you say “Yes, but…” and turn their desire into an attainable solution or help them see why it isn’t feasible.
- A creative problem solver. You enjoy figuring things out and don't stop until the issue is resolved, even if that means pacing yourself or the team.
- Level-headed. You can keep your cool when the To Do list gets long. You’re not a stranger to customer service and know how to respectfully tell a difficult homeowner no if their request isn’t reasonable or will harm their neighbors.
- A project manager. You juggle many moving pieces, keep things on track, and make sure deadlines and goals are met. Your team helps accomplish the tasks, but you are the one that makes sure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Energized by a fast pace. You like variety and don't mind when plans change.
- Present and reachable. You pick up the phone, you show up in person. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying quiet in-office time to catch up, but you also like being out in the community and getting to know people.
How We’re DIfferent
- We put relationships first.
- We are more interested in doing things right than in doing them quickly.
- We provide autonomy and flexibility while still providing you support.
- We’re growing and will have a direct path to promotion for you.
- We don’t have required in office hours. You will be responsible for helping us make sure the phones are staffed and we remain responsive, but you have full flexibility in your schedule so long as you are meeting your goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in HOA/community association management, property management, or a related customer-facing role with project management duties
- Comfortable reading financial statements and working with budgets
- Tech-savvy; experience with Smartwebs or similar HOA software is a plus
- CMCA or AMS certification is a plus (or willingness to get it)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for regular travel between communities
- Available for evening work (remainder of schedule flexible so long as goals are met)
To Apply: Submit your resume AND a written letter stating 1) What you’re looking for in your next job, 2) Why you think this would be a good fit for you (what made you apply), and 3) An example of a problem you solved that you're proud of, and how you got it to resolution.
