II. SUMMARY OF POSITION’S PURPOSE
Provides clerical support to the Guidance Counselor with respect to new student registration, withdrawals, attendance and other related functions.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION – High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- EXPERIENCE – Minimum of 6 months to 1 year in general clerical activities.
IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides clerical support to the Guidance Counselor including, but not limited to, typing reports, answering phones, making copies and preparing student files.
- Prepares all paperwork related to the registration of new students.
- Prepares all paperwork related to the withdrawal of students.
- Assists Counselor in coordinating standardized testing.
- Maintains an updated custody list.
- Coordinates all clerical activities related to student attendance tracking.
- Enters grades at the end of each 9 week period and prepares report cards.
- Ensures that all student data is updated on the computer in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assists the School Nurse by distributing approved medications and checking students for lice.
- Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured.
- Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
- Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Assists with the orientation of new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
