II. SUMMARY OF POSITION’S PURPOSE
Performs a wide variety of maintenance related activities as an assistant to carpenters, electricians, plumbers and painters.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION – 8 th grade education or its equivalent.
B. EXPERIENCE – 0 to 6 months of basic work experience
C. SKILLS – Basic knowledge of maintenance & vehicle related activities.
- OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Must be physically capable of lifting in excess of 25 pounds on a continual basis. This position requires some manual dexterity with close mental/visual attention and the ability to perform job functions in a standing position for a majority of the work day. This position is exposed to environmental extremes on a daily basis. This position also requires the ability to perform climbing activities.
IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs maintenance and repair functions under the direction of the appropriate skilled personnel. These functions include, but are not limited to, cleaning buses and promptly removing graffiti from seats.
- Assists in the maintenance of buses.
- Cleans the jobsite upon the completion of the activity.
- Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers, co-workers, etc. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that employee records confidentiality is assured.
- Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
- Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
- Performs other services as required.
