Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our team in Melbourne, FL. The ISSE will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions to protect our information systems and ensure compliance with applicable security policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity principles, risk management, and system engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement security architectures and engineering solutions for information systems.
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify security gaps and recommend mitigations.
- Collaborate with system engineers, developers, and stakeholders to integrate security controls throughout the system development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Prepare and review security documentation including System Security Plans (SSP), Security Assessment Reports (SAR), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational cybersecurity policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Support security accreditation and certification processes such as RMF (Risk Management Framework) or DIACAP.
- Monitor emerging threats and vulnerabilities and recommend proactive security measures.
- Provide technical guidance and training on security best practices to team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in information systems security engineering or a related cybersecurity role.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and FISMA.
- Experience with security tools and technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption, and vulnerability scanners.
- Familiarity with cloud security principles and technologies (AWS, Azure, or similar) is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Security are highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
