Ascension Automotive is a premier auto restyling and protection studio in Milford, Michigan. We deliver paint protection film, ceramic coatings, and premium detailing services for clients who expect the best. We’re not a car wash. We’re not a dealer detail department. We’re a small, passionate team that treats every vehicle like it’s our own.

We’re growing, and we need a detailer who wants more than just a job — someone who sees detailing as the foundation of a real career in automotive protection.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Exterior Wash & Dry: Thorough hand washes using foam cannon, two-bucket method, and safe wash mitts. Blow-dry and hand-dry to a spot-free finish. Wheels, barrels, wheel wells, door jambs, nothing gets skipped.
• Full Interior Detailing: Vacuum every surface. Steam clean upholstery and leather. Condition leather. Dress plastics and trim. Clean all glass. The goal: showroom condition, every single time.
• Paint Decontamination & Clay Bar: Iron remover, tar remover, and clay bar to remove bonded contaminants. Proper lubrication, even pressure, thorough coverage. Every imperfection you miss shows up under coatings and film.
• Ceramic Coating Prep: Final surface prep before coating application — IPA wipe-down, panel-by-panel inspection under LED lighting, zero contamination or residue.
• PPF Prep: Prep vehicles for paint protection film. Decontamination wash, clay bar, surface inspection, final wipe-down. Flag existing paint defects before film goes on.
• Workspace & Equipment Maintenance: Keep your bay, tools, and equipment spotless. Wash and fold towels. Mix chemicals at correct ratios. Restock supplies.
• Team Support: Communicate on job timelines, vehicle conditions, and concerns. Be ready to pivot between jobs as priorities shift.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• Minimum 6 months of professional detailing experience (shop, dealership, or mobile — not hobbyist only)
• Proficiency with two-bucket wash method, clay bar application, and interior detailing
• Strong attention to detail — you notice water spots, swirl marks, missed crevices, and contamination others miss
• Reliable transportation and ability to work full-time (40 hrs/week, Mon–Sat, 9AM–6PM)
• Physical stamina — hands-on, on-your-feet all day
• Coachable attitude — takes feedback well, asks questions, applies corrections immediately
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Preferred (Not Required):

• Experience with paint decontamination (iron remover, tar removal, clay bar)
• Familiarity with ceramic coating prep procedures
• Experience using a DA polisher
• Knowledge of different surface types and how to safely clean each
• References from a previous shop or detailing employer

✖ You can’t take constructive feedback. We’re going to coach you. A lot. That’s how you get better.

✖ You don’t care about your workspace. Messy bay = messy work.

✖ You have no interest in growing. This role is a launchpad into ceramic coatings. If you want wash-and-vac forever, this isn’t the spot.

✖ You’re unreliable. Showing up late, calling off, or disappearing on Saturdays won’t work here.

YOUR GROWTH PATH AT ASCENSION

Day 1 – Day 90: Probation & Foundation. Master Ascension’s wash and detail standard. Shadow coating and PPF prep. Prove reliability and attention to detail.

Months 3–6: Expanding Skills. Full autonomy on all detail and decon services. Begin learning DA polisher and paint correction basics. Performance-based pay review.

Months 6–12: Coating Apprentice. Begin ceramic coating application on practice panels, then supervised client vehicles. Continue building paint correction skills.

Year 1 : Ceramic Coating Technician. Autonomous on coatings, paint correction, and all detail/prep services. Significant pay increase. Potential manufacturer certification.

OUR HIRING PROCESS

Step 2 — Phone Screen (15 min): Quick conversation about your background and fit.

Step 3 — In-Shop Evaluation: Visit the shop, meet the team, show us your skills on a test detail.

Step 4 — Offer & 90-Day Probation: Written offer with formal 90-day review and pay confirmation.
