About the Opportunity
The Senior Manager, Real Estate Tax will support a specialized Real Estate Group that works with developers, owners, operators, investors, partnerships, and other real estate-focused entities. This individual will serve as a key client contact, lead complex tax engagements, manage internal teams, and work closely with Partners and Senior Leadership to deliver high-quality service and strategic tax guidance.

Key Responsibilities
• Serve as a senior engagement leader for real estate tax clients, overseeing planning, execution, deliverables, billing, and collections.
• Lead complex tax engagements for real estate clients, including partnerships, developers, owners, operators, and investment entities.
• Develop detailed engagement work plans, budgets, timelines, and staffing schedules while monitoring progress against deadlines.
• Act as a primary client contact, providing proactive communication, strategic guidance, and exceptional client service throughout the engagement lifecycle.
• Review tax workpapers, returns, research, and technical conclusions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality.
• Identify tax planning opportunities, technical issues, and client service enhancements across the real estate client portfolio.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop Associates, Senior Associates, Managers, and other team members.
• Collaborate closely with Partners and Senior Managers to manage client relationships, engagement economics, internal workflow, and practice growth initiatives.
• Maintain strong knowledge of applicable tax law, IRC code, regulations, and industry-specific real estate tax matters.
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• CPA required
• 8 years of tax experience in public accounting
• Strong background serving real estate clients, including partnerships, developers, investors, funds, property owners/operators, or related entities
• Excellent technical tax, analytical, research, and review skills
• Strong knowledge of IRC code, regulations, tax compliance, and tax planning concepts
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor
• Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, and client priorities in a fast-paced public accounting environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, tax software, research tools, and engagement management platforms
• Experience with ProSystem, GoSystem, CCH Engagement, or similar platforms is a plus
Compensation
$160,000 – $190,000 base salary bonus, depending on experience and qualifications.
