Miami Based role: hybrid onsite
A well-established financial institution is seeking a Residential Underwriter to join its lending team in Miami.
This position is responsible for analyzing and underwriting residential mortgage loan requests while ensuring compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Review tax returns, financial statements, and supporting documentation to assess the viability of residential mortgage loan requests
- Prepare detailed credit underwriting reports, including risk analysis, repayment sources, and sensitivity assessments
- Pull and review credit reports, OFAC screenings, and background checks
- Analyze borrower income, financial condition, and business operations to determine repayment capacity
- Identify and mitigate credit risk while ensuring compliance with bank credit policies and procedures
- Partner with Operations and internal teams to resolve documentation issues and missing information
- Issue underwriting recommendations for management review
- Participate in projects related to the residential loan portfolio
- Maintain full adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements, including BSA/AML, CDD, EDD, and information security policies Support cross-functional initiatives and additional departmental needs as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant underwriting experience
- Residential mortgage underwriting experience within a banking or financial institution environment
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit risk, and lending practices
- Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Languages are always a plus! (Spanish or Portuguese)
- Must be fluent in English (read write and speak)
