Senior Accountant –Transportation Company
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing financial reporting and accounting operations within a maritime transportation company. This role ensures accurate accounting of vessel operations, freight revenues, and related activities, while supporting compliance with company policy.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and review financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual)
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
• Manage voyage accounting (freight revenue, fuel costs, port fees)
• Perform vessel-level profit and loss analysis
• Reconcile general ledger and intercompany accounts
• Manage fixed assets, including vessel capitalization and depreciation
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting
• Support audits and regulatory compliance
• Improve accounting processes and internal controls
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 4–8 years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with ERP systems
• Advanced Excel skills
Preferred Qualifications
• CPA certification a
• Maritime/shipping industry experience

Compensation
$120,000 – 130,000 depending on experience
