Job Title: PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN
Department: Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday sleeper 5p-8a shift. Two sleepers a week plus Saturday 10a-5p. 37 hrs. a week, 8 normal hours and 7 sleeper hours at a sleeper rate.
Reports To: Psych Tech Supervisor, Program Director and Executive Director when necessary
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Basic Function
To keep the residents safe and enforce consequences if they are not following the rules of the facility. To ensure the structure and programming are followed by patients during nights and weekends while maintaining a therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating self-administering medications.
- Driving patients to off-site 12-step meetings and activities.
- Supervision of patients and knowledge of their whereabouts at all times.
- Holding boundaries with patients both personally and therapeutically.
- Report all activity that is out of the ordinary immediately.
- Maintain Ascend’s therapeutic environment by knowing and upholding House Policies and issuing Conduct Reports as behavior management for patients.
- Conduct urinalysis testing as needed.
- Manage facility security system and monitoring.
- De-escalating any disruptive or inappropriate behaviors from patients.
- Complete charting and shift change report.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Over age 21
Current Driver’s License/No tickets in last 3 years
Pass Drug Screen
CPR & First Aid Certified (must certify after being hired)

Degree: High School Diploma or equivalent (recommended but not required)
Experience
Prior experience in the substance abuse treatment and/or mental health field preferred.
