Position Summary
We are seeking a full time motivated and skilled Massage Therapist to join our team. The Licensed Massage Therapist will deliver expert massage therapy services to clients, emphasizing relaxation, stress relief, and overall wellness. The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge of diverse massage techniques and demonstrate a genuine passion for improving clients' health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Client Consultation:
- Conduct thorough consultations with clients to assess their medical history, current conditions, and massage therapy goals.
- Customize massage treatments based on individual client needs, preferences, and any specific areas of concern.
- Educate clients about the benefits of massage therapy and recommend appropriate treatment plans to address their needs.
Massage Therapy Services:
- Perform a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, hot stone massage, and aromatherapy.
- Apply appropriate pressure and manipulation techniques to promote relaxation, relieve muscle tension, and alleviate pain.
- Incorporate additional modalities such as reflexology, myofascial release, or lymphatic drainage as needed.
Sanitation and Safety:
- Adhere to strict sanitation and hygiene protocols to maintain a clean and safe massage therapy environment.
- Follow proper sterilization procedures for massage equipment, linens, and supplies to prevent cross-contamination.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and maintain a high standard of cleanliness in treatment rooms and work areas.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate client records, including treatment notes, progress assessments, and any relevant medical information.
- Document client feedback, preferences, and treatment plans for future reference and continuity of care.
- Keep track of appointment scheduling, cancellations, and client follow-ups in accordance with established procedures.
Professional Development:
- Pursue ongoing education and training to stay updated on the latest massage therapy techniques, modalities, and industry trends.
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Obtain and maintain licensure or certification as required by state regulations and professional associations.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other MedSpa staff members to provide integrated wellness services and enhance the overall client experience.
- Communicate effectively with clients to address their needs, concerns, and feedback during and after massage therapy sessions.
- Act as a brand ambassador for the MedSpa, promoting services and educating clients about the benefits of massage therapy.
- Adhere to facility policies and protocols.
- Understand the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Advanced knowledge of the types of services and treatments offered at the practice.
Qualifications
- Valid state license or certification as a Massage Therapist.
- Previous experience working as a Massage Therapist in a spa, wellness center.
- Certification in specialized treatments (e.g., laser, microneedling) may be required based on local regulations.
- Licensing: Most states regulate the massage therapy profession in the form of state registration, state certification, or state licensure. Licensing is the most rigorous form of professional regulation, making it illegal for anyone to work as a massage therapist unless they have a license.
- Board Certification: Administered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Individuals who meet standards of education and pass the examination are entitled to use the designation Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB.
- Education and Training with an Accredited School: Most states require a specific number of hours of in-class initial massage therapy training, which must include the study of anatomy and physiology, the theory and practice of massage therapy, and elective subjects. This varies by state from 500 to 1,000 hours of initial education.
- Membership in a Professional Massage Therapy Association: Membership in a credible professional association indicates professional preparation and accountability. The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) is the largest non-profit, professional association representing massage therapy.
