POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, provides lead of the operational accounting and activities of the Bank. Responsible for performing complex accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements applicable to the banking industry. This role performs investment portfolio accounting and reconciliations, financial reporting, maintaining the Bank’s accounting records in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP) and financial accounting practices. Responsible for completion of assigned regulatory schedules and reports.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Participate in the monthly close and reporting process, analyzing financial reports, and make recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
- Prepares monthly fixed asset and prepaid entries as well as yield analysis for loan and deposit applications.
- Assist in the training and development of Finance employees and share knowledge and expertise with other employees for their development as appropriate.
- Responsible for recording and maintaining the accounting activity for Grey Ledge Advisors.
- Assist with the consolidation/elimination entries with respect to the Bank’s holding companies and subsidiaries including the completion of the quarterly FR Y-9 regulatory reporting.
- Review of Investment Portfolio Accounting transactions including the new security setup, sales, maturities, calls, monthly payments, and monthly accounting and mark to market process.
- Review and approve daily reconciliations and the accuracy of journal entries.
- Supports the integration of various accounting software applications, core processing systems, and other programs to promote automation, efficiency, and accuracy. Perform general ledger system maintenance as needed.
- Direct responsibility for timely completion of assigned CALL Report schedules and other regulatory reporting.
- Participate in the development of the Bank’s annual budgets and collaborate with various departments to develop sub-schedules for the capital budget.
- Prepare annual personal property tax statements for all towns.
- Prepare annual IRS and CT 945 tax filings.
- Oversee special projects when assigned.
- Satisfactorily completes all required compliance training.
- Performs other related duties as required.

EXPERIENCE: Three to five years of similar or related experience. Experience in banking highly desirable.
