BASIC FUNCTIONS: To assist the teachers and school site to achieve instructional objectives by working with student groups or individual students to help them achieve grade level or higher standards. Employees in this classification will be required to participate in training activities related to assessment both at assigned work site and at other designated locations.   This job class requires basic computer knowledge and the ability to learn to operate different software applications relating to student assessment.  Employees may be required to work at other locations during designated times for preparation and/or completion of assessment activities.  Assigned site administrator or designee will conduct evaluation and supervision.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Schedules, administers, scores and records achievement and diagnostic assessments as directed.
  • Administers, scores, records state mandated assessments including assessments for English language learners.
  • Operates and provides basic care for computer equipment used in the classroom, computer labs, or media centers.
  • Ability to compile data from a variety of sources using both pencil and computer software applications.
  • Completes data input of testing results into designated computerized databases.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as expected of fully credentialed teachers.
  • Attends and participates in training and in-service programs, as assigned.
  • Inventories, orders and distributes assessment materials.
  • Collects and prepares assessment materials for scoring according to specific instructions. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

  • Knowledge of basic computer operating systems.
  • Knowledge of basic internet and e-mail functions, including the ability to download and upload files to a variety of sources, as directed.
  • Knowledge of English usage, vocabulary, grammar and spelling.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate assigned duties and schedules.
  • Ability to give oral and written directions.
  • Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions in an independent manner.
  • Ability to operate and provide basic maintenance of computer equipment including computer terminal, scanner and printer used in the classroom, computer lab or media center.
  • Ability to coordinate and schedule on site assessment activities as directed.
  • Ability to work with staff in assisting and coordinating software applications with student lesson plans, as directed.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations using basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files.
  • Ability to prepare reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
  • Completion of 12th grade and 48 college units or AA Degree or higher

 

Working Conditions and Abilities:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.
  • Ability to bend, twist, kneel and stoop.
  • Physical agility to lift, carry, push, pull up to five pounds on a regular basis and up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to reach in all directions.
