Position Title: Community Garden Assistant
Department: Student Services
Reports to: Community Developer: Garden Coordinator
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Grade Level: Student Worker
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position serves as a hands-on garden maintenance worker under the supervision of the Garden Coordinator. Tasks include, but are not limited to, watering, weeding, and preparing garden beds, as well as helping with any projects that may arise in the garden. The bulk of hours will be spent on general landscaping work, such as mowing, weed-whacking, and mulching. MUST BE A CURRENT STUDENT AT ASBURY THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain a tidy and pleasant atmosphere in the garden by ensuring weekly tasks are completed.
- Assist Coordinator in ensuring goals of garden are met (such as maintaining the beauty of the garden, helping the gardeners with their questions and needs, engaging the community in garden work, etc.)
- Participate in necessary seasonal work and projects.
- Must be able to perform physical labor and work in hot (or cold) weather conditions.
