Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership & Shift Oversight
- Lead real-time operational decisions that support safe, productive, and efficient execution of the mine plan.
- Assign and manage truck, shovel, and auxiliary resources using fleet systems, adapting dynamically to delays, weather, or resource constraints.
- Drive a culture of proactive problem-solving, engaging operators and field supervisors with professionalism and clarity.
- Ensure shift KPIs such as first load time, shovel hang time, and cycle efficiency are achieved consistently.
- Fleet System Management & Data Integrity
- Uphold the integrity of the fleet management system through accurate, timely data inputs and real-time validation of system activity.
- Analyze live data and trends to inform adjustments that improve cycle times, reduce queueing, and boost equipment utilization.
- Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot system issues and recommend enhancements that support site-wide innovation..
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Act as a communication hub between Mine Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Safety, and Drill & Blast teams.
- Lead structured and professional shift handovers, clearly documenting decisions, risks, and next steps.
- Align dispatch strategy with upstream and downstream activities, contributing to a shared understanding of priorities and shared success metrics.
- Support for Remote Operations Transformation
- Contribute to the development of Remote Operations Center (ROC) protocols, workflows, and best practices.
- Participate in readiness assessments, remote simulations, and feedback loops to ensure a smooth and resilient transition.
- Embrace new technologies and provide leadership during organizational change, modeling adaptability and continuous learning.
- Safety, Sustainability & Accountability
- Maintain high awareness of safety-critical conditions and ensure compliance with environmental and operating procedures.
- Promptly execute emergency protocols, ensuring coordinated escalation and documentation.
- Advocate for ASARCO's values by promoting a zero-harm mindset and supporting a workplace that is safe, respectful, and inclusive for all.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience in mine dispatch, load & haul operations, or centralized control environments
- Strong working knowledge of fleet management systems (e.g., Wenco, Modular, MineStar, or equivalent)
- Proven ability to lead in fast-paced, high-pressure situations with strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- This position will be required to relocate to the Remote Operations Center within 12 months as part of ASARCO's operational transformation
- Ability and desire to learn new mining programs and systems
- Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to draft and compose routine reports and correspondence
