Automotive Estimator

Job Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Estimator to join our automotive service team. The ideal candidate will possess strong automotive knowledge, including dealership experience, auto service management, and a solid understanding of various repair and maintenance procedures. This role involves accurately assessing vehicle repairs, preparing detailed estimates, and ensuring customer satisfaction through transparent communication. The Estimator plays a critical role in bridging the gap between technical work and customer service, contributing to the overall efficiency and profitability of our service department.

Responsibilities

• Review vehicle repair orders and inspect vehicles to determine necessary repairs and services
• Prepare accurate estimates for repairs including diagnostics, mechanical work, transmissions, oil changes, tire services, suspension, brakes, alignments, engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brakes, and other automotive services
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair options, costs, and timelines
• Collaborate with technicians to understand scope of work and ensure estimates are comprehensive and precise
• Assist in upselling additional services or maintenance based on vehicle condition and customer needs
• Manage service writing documentation and maintain detailed records of estimates and repairs
• Handle cash transactions when applicable and ensure proper documentation for all financial dealings
• Stay updated on industry trends, new repair techniques, and diagnostic tools to provide accurate assessments
• Answer phone and schedule appointments

Experience

• Proven dealership experience or extensive auto service management background preferred
• Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures
• Experience with auto estimating software is highly desirable
• Background in mechanic work or automotive repair including transmissions, oil changes, alignment, suspension work, tire service, ZASFqshocks & struts, brake repair, air brake systems is advantageous
• Customer service experience with a focus on clear communication and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with auto sales processes and service writing is beneficial
• Prior experience in upselling services to customers is a plus

Pay: $40,289.64 - $73,811.19 per year
