Starting Wage:$24.80-$34.11 per hour, depending on experience
Position Summary
The Cancer Registry Analyst Performs case finding, abstracting, coding, and electronic data entry of all eligible cancer registry patients.
This position requires the ability to comprehend a medical record and identify essential key criteria needed for a completed cancer registry abstract. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, self-disciplined, and organized; work effectively with all employees and physicians; demonstrate tactfulness in dealing with patients while protecting the confidentiality of medical data; and work well without direct supervision.
As a Cancer Registry Analyst at Asante, you will have the opportunity to:
- Perform ongoing identification of all reportable cases for facility, state, and national reporting to document the number and sites of diagnosed and/or treated cancers.
- Abstract and code all reportable cancer cases, ensuring accurate and uniform maintenance of cancer data for facility, state, and national reporting.
- Maintain electronic abstract records of living patients to obtain end results information, including additional treatment and length of survival data.
- Coordinate physician requests and interdepartmental requirements for weekly Cancer Conference case presentation to promote multidisciplinary care of patients diagnosed with cancer.
Qualifications
- An associate's degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience, is required
- A bachelor's degree in business or a healthcare-related field, is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of cancer registry abstracting experience is required.
- Knowledge of oncology, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and various medical specialties such as surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, etc., is also required
- CTR: Certified Tumor Registrar by the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) is required
