Asama Coldwater Manufacturing is seeking a Casting Assistant Manager to oversee daily foundry and metal casting operations.
This leadership role bridges executive strategy and floor-level execution—ensuring safety, production efficiency, quality standards, and cost control across casting operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong foundry experience, hands-on leadership, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a high-heat manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Leadership
- Oversee daily metal casting and foundry operations
- Ensure productivity, quality, and safety goals are met or exceeded
- Maintain strong floor presence across shifts
- Manage production schedules, staffing, and workflow planning
- Coordinate movement of goods to support accurate inventory control
Team Management & Development
- Supervise casting department leadership and staff
- Hire, train, evaluate, and develop personnel
- Manage schedules and assign responsibilities
- Resolve personnel and operational challenges
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards
- Ensure proper PPE compliance
- Promote a culture of workplace safety
Financial & Strategic Oversight
- Develop budgets and approve expenditures
- Optimize use of labor, materials, and equipment
- Analyze production and quality data to identify improvements
- Implement cost-reduction and efficiency initiatives
Maintenance & Process Improvement
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability
- Troubleshoot production and processing issues
- Recommend facility or equipment modifications
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance output and reduce waste
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or university)
- OR related equivalent experience
Experience
- 3–7 years of foundry or metal casting experience
- Prior manufacturing leadership experience
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of melting furnaces, sand systems, cranes
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

- Proven ability to manage teams
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
- Effective communication across departments
Work Environment
- Exposure to high heat, dust, and noise in a foundry setting
