Fire & Life Safety Director

AS Hospitality Services is seeking experienced and certified Fire & Life Safety Directors (FLSDs) to join our team in high-profile luxury hotel environments across New York City.

This is not a standard FLSD position.

Our professionals operate at the intersection of FDNY compliance, security operations, and elevated guest experience—serving as both safety leaders and front-facing representatives of the property.

Key Responsibilities

Fire & Life Safety Leadership

• Serve as the designated FLSD in full compliance with FDNY regulations
• Monitor and operate all fire alarm and life safety systems
• Lead and coordinate emergency responses (fire, medical, evacuations, power failure, active threats)
• Maintain all required logs, documentation, drills, and incident reports
• Liaise directly with FDNY and emergency response agencies
• Ensure strict adherence to NYC Fire Code, Local Laws, and site-specific procedures

Hospitality-Driven Security Operations

• Maintain a visible, professional, and guest-focused presence throughout the property
• Conduct patrols across public areas, back-of-house, and perimeter zones
• Monitor CCTV systems and manage access control points
• Interact with guests and staff in a polished, service-oriented manner
• Support hotel operations with loss prevention, crowd management, and incident response
• De-escalate situations with composure, discretion, and professionalism

Qualifications

Required

• Valid FDNY FLSD Certificate of Fitness (F-89, T-89, or Z-89)
• (Onsite exam completion required within one year)
• Current NYS Security Guard License
• (8-hour, 16-hour, and annual refresher up to date)

Preferred

• Experience in luxury hotels or high-end commercial properties
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Professional appearance aligned with hospitality standards
• Flexible availability (including overnights, weekends, and holidays)
