Junior Packaging Designer, Beauty

We’re excited to be hiring a Junior Packaging Designer to join our in-house off-price team at AS Beauty! You will be an essential part of our team working on the packaging development end of our beauty brands that are sold in our off-channel markets (TJMaxx, Ross, Burlington, etc). We are looking for someone to help design and execute various assets and content within our packaging/print department.

You must have an exceptional eye for detail and be comfortable communicating the rationale behind your design choices.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Ability to create highly innovative design concepts and maintain visual/branding design guidelines for our Laura Geller and Bliss brands

• Prepare packaging production files to share with external factories

• Assist in the review of electronic proofs and pre-production samples and provide detailed feedback

• Retouch and color-correct images for print

• Take ownership in extensive market research, consumer analysis, testing, and creation

• Update Manager on project progress, sample statuses and outstanding tasks

• Partner with our regulatory and copy departments to request all necessary product packaging information

• Work with our overseas factories on sourcing product packaging

• Testing and reviewing new packaging submissions, as well as providing feedback to our overseas factories

• Ensure products meet each retailer’s specific price points, trend preferences, and compliance requirements

• Weekly visits to our off-channel stores

• Ability to pay fine attention to detail while working on all projects

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Be able to problem solve and develop creative design solutions when necessary

• Take ownership and manage multiple projects

• Completing multiple tasks on tight deadlines

• Design and develop packaging from concept to production

• Gather and interpret market trends for mood boards

• Stay up to date on current packaging trends and beauty trends

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have the ability to work in-house at our office in NYC: Monday-Thursday in office (Fridays we work remote)

• Degree in Design, Graphic Design, Package Design, or equivalent experience

• Expert level Adobe Creative Suite knowledge (especially Photoshop and Illustrator)

• Retouching experience with product photography

• Expertise in designing for retail

• Excellent understanding of layout design, working within templated files and implementing them into different dielines

• In-depth knowledge of current packaging design techniques and practices

• Ability to work and thrive in a team environment

• Passion for design and beauty
