This supervisory role is in our exciting Off Shore Wind product line. The productivity expectations are high and require accountable leadership to meet our production goals.
The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task and lead a skilled workforce, as well as have manufacturing and leadership experience.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Primary area of responsibility – Plant 3 Weld Shop OSW
Responsible for the directing of activities of two or more full-time employees on an assigned shift who are engaged in various operations in the manufacturing department such as: pre-fab, part assembly, mechanical assembly, fit-up weld, material movement, expediting, deburr and clean up, maintenance, and preparation for shipment of manufactured products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Fill in for Section Manager as required.
2. Responsible for the directing of activities of two or more full-time employees on multiple shifts who are engaged in various operations performed in the manufacturing department such as: pre-fab, part assembly, mechanical assembly, fit-up and weld, material movement, expediting, deburr and clean up, maintenance, and preparation for shipment of manufactured products.
3. Overseeing the operations of their respective department maintaining a coordinated workflow ensuring each employee has been provided the required material, tooling, information and training necessary to complete their responsibilities and ensure that all employees know what is expected of them in terms of quality, performance, and cost.
4. Responsible for decision-making and communicating to Human Resources on all new hire selections, as well as ensuring the training of all employees in the department. In addition, responsible for performance evaluations of employees and making recommendations for salary increases based on productivity, safety, & attendance.
5. Create in the work area a climate in which employees follow the rules regularly and uniformly, ensuring accountability and productivity of the work. Directly responsible for disciplining employees when violations occur and administering the corrective counselling policy when necessary.
6. Strive to become an effective initiator of progressive changes, welcoming them from all sources. Establish a climate which continuously produces new ideas or suggestions for improvement.
7. Conduct monthly departmental safety meetings.
8. Plan, schedule, and monitor production or maintenance work to meet internal and external customer schedules and emergencies. Make overtime recommendations when required.
9. Directly responsible for maintaining quality, 5S, lean manufacturing & cost reduction activities including maintaining a clean an orderly manufacturing environment.
10. Provide the safest possible work environment by minimizing risks and hazards. Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA and company requirements. Correct unsafe acts and report all violations to production manager and safety director.
11. Support and advocate management philosophies, policies, and goals. Communicate all information required by employees to perform and understand their jobs.
12. Additional specialized skills may be required based on departmental need.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A degree and/or work experience in a manufacturing environment. Must have leadership capability and the ability to plan, organize, direct and control department activities.

Pay: $68,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
