Production Technician (First-Response & Machine Care)

Arvin Sango, Inc
Madison, IN Full Time
POSTED ON 8/10/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/7/2026

Summary

The Production Technician serves as a hands-on technical resource on the production floor, specializing in first-response machine care, troubleshooting, and basic system optimization. This role is ideal for a natural tinkerer—someone who genuinely enjoys working with their hands, figuring out how things work, and messing with a mechanical issue until it is resolved. Positioned between a standard operator and a maintenance member, you will understand exactly how the machinery is supposed to operate, diagnose malfunctions, perform immediate tactical repairs, and escalate complex technical issues to the correct department when necessary.

First – Response Maintenance & Diagnostics

  • Fabricate prototype parts: Form and create components for trial projects.
  • Diagnose & Troubleshoot: Analyze malfunctioning electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic production machinery to identify root causes.
  • First-Response Care: Perform tactical, upper-level machine care and immediate technical fixes to keep the production line running efficiently.
  • Escalate Appropriately: Know the limits of the machinery and your own technical latitude; accurately document issues and escalate complex structural problems to the appropriate maintenance or engineer.
  • Implement machine countermeasures: Recommend and apply technical fixes to prevent recurring equipment issues.
  • Ability to teach a robot, make JIG adjustments, C/O Datums, replacing clamps and valves, repairing air leaks and bad wiring, and replacing cylinders.

Technical & Hand-On Operations

· Machine Adjustments: Teach or touch up robot paths, make precise JIG adjustments, and configure Changeover (C/O) Datums.

· Component Replacement: Replace cylinders, clamps, and valves; repair air leaks and fix basic bad wiring.

· Fabrication & Repair: Form and create prototype parts or components for trial projects, and modify operational equipment as needed.

· Daily Production Support: Execute core daily tasks assigned to the production area and step in to support general operations.

Specifications, Quality & Safety

· Interpret Manuals: Utilize equipment manuals, blueprints, technical schematics, and operating specifications to guide repairs.

· Calculate Working Data: Use handbooks, data tables, and technical references to determine part sizes, fits, and capacities.

· Quality Control: Detect, flag, and immediately report material defects or questionable product conditions to supervisors.

· Safety & Housekeeping: Strictly follow standard safety work procedures and maintain the equipment and work area in a clean, orderly condition.

Communication & Teamwork

· Collaborate with Peers: Work closely with production operators, supervisors, and the broader maintenance team to solve problems.

· Provide Feedback: Communicate equipment concerns promptly and offer constructive feedback to management regarding process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

· The "Tinkerer" Mindset: A strong natural aptitude for working with your hands and a passion for diagnosing, fixing, and messing with mechanical situations until they work.

· Problem-Solving Drive: High curiosity and persistence when it comes to figuring out how a machine operates and why it failed.

· Technical Knowledge: General working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

· Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain a technical issue to both operators and upper-level engineers.

· Team Alignment: Ability to take direction from supervisors and collaborate well with a diverse production team.

EDUCATION &/OR EXPERIENCE

· High School diploma or equivalent required.

· Proven experience working on mechanical systems (e.g., automotive repair, farm equipment maintenance, hobbies involving machinery, or previous manufacturing maintenance).

· Manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.

· A technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance is a plus, but practical, hands-on experience and a strong mechanical aptitude are highly valued.
