Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Network Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network infrastructure and administration, with hands-on experience in managing and securing various network environments. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our network systems while supporting the overall IT infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use diagnostic and help request tracking tools and provide in-person or remote help at the desktop level. Build rapport and elicit problem details from help desk customers, prioritize and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician.
- Manage help desk software including software updates and configuration, help request assignment, and work order management and analysis.
- Develop help sheets and frequently asked questions list for end users.
- Setup, deploy, and manage user desktops, laptops, virtual desktops, and printers.
- Administer Active Directory including Group Policy Objects.
- Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Administer Office 365 including Azure device management and SharePoint.
- Manage virtual servers, including email, file, print, and other servers and their associated operating systems and software.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Provide training to members for various computer topics such as help desk software, company intranet, and best practices.
- Create and manage user facing systems including help desk software, company intranet, collaborative and communications software.
- Perform first level support for IBM.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive experience with current Windows desktop systems with a variety of configurations including Microsoft Office 365
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, software, protocols, and standards
- Understanding of basic network configuration, equipment, and troubleshooting
- Experience with administrative functions in a Windows server environment, VMware - vSphere - VMware Horizon, diagnosing and troubleshooting printing issues, IBM midrange systems.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Managing a help desk and using help desk software
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills
- Highly self-motivated and directed
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
EDUCATION &/OR EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree in computer-related field or equivalent experience
- 5 years help desk experience and end-user support
- 2 years server administration
- 2 years working with IBM
