GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Tool Crib Operator / Maintenance Support position is responsible for managing the tool crib inventory, supporting production and the maintenance team with tools and parts, and assisting with light maintenance tasks to ensure efficient plant operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining organization, minimizing downtime, and supporting internal customer needs across departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and organize tool crib inventory, ensuring tools and supplies are properly stored, tracked, and readily available
- Issue and receive tools, parts, and equipment to employees and departments
- Monitor inventory levels and order parts, tools, and supplies as needed
- Communicate with vendors regarding parts availability, pricing, and delivery timelines
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment, and transactions
- Assist maintenance team with light maintenance tasks and repairs as needed
- Repair and maintain air tools, hoses, and MIG welding leads
- Coordinate waste pickup and maintain required environmental documentation
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve organization and efficiency within the tool crib
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and proper handling of tools and equipment
- Operate forklift or other material handling equipment as needed
- Provide timely and professional support to internal customers (production, maintenance, etc.)
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in a tool crib, maintenance, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred
Mechanical aptitude with ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks
Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and ordering
Forklift experience or ability to become certified
