Job Title: Studio Associate - Paint Your Own Pottery

Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our team at Arts on Fire, a vibrant and creative "Paint Your Own Pottery" studio. As a Studio Associate, you will assist customers in selecting and painting pottery pieces, providing guidance and encouragement during the painting process, as well as performing essential studio tasks such as clear glazing, loading, and unloading the kiln.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Assistance:
• Greet customers in a warm and friendly manner, offering help and guidance on selecting pottery pieces.
• Provide instructions and support to customers during the painting process, ensuring they are comfortable and enjoy their experience.
• Offer creative advice and inspiration to customers, helping them achieve their vision for their pottery projects.
• Pottery Preparation & Glazing:
• Apply clear glaze to pottery pieces following the painting process to prepare them for firing.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail and quality when glazing and preparing pottery for the kiln.
• Kiln Operations:
• Safely load and unload the kiln, ensuring proper placement of pottery for even firing.
• Monitor kiln firing schedules and assist in any troubleshooting or adjustments if necessary.
• Ensure that all fired pottery pieces are handled carefully and are ready for customer pick-up.
• Studio Maintenance:
• Keep the studio space clean, organized, and well-stocked with supplies (paint, brushes, pottery, glazes, etc.).
• Assist with inventory management and restocking of materials as needed.
• Follow all health and safety procedures in the studio, ensuring a safe environment for customers and staff.
• Customer Service:
• Handle customer inquiries regarding pottery painting techniques, firing times, and product availability.
• Maintain a positive and upbeat atmosphere, ensuring customers have an enjoyable and memorable experience.
• Address any customer concerns or issues promptly and professionally.

Qualifications:

• No prior pottery experience required; training will be provided.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Willingness to learn about pottery glazing and kiln operation.
• Experience in a customer service or art-related environment is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Comfort with lifting and handling pottery pieces (up to 25 lbs).
• Ability to work in a studio setting, including exposure to art supplies and chemicals.
