What are the responsibilities and job description for the Opus Bartender position at Arts Iowa?
Opus Concert Café is seeking individuals to help provide a phenomenal bar experience to our patrons at events and concerts. Opus Concert Café hosts several concerts and events throughout the year, spanning genres from jazz to chamber orchestra.
Responsibilities
- Welcoming customers, reading, and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders
- Pouring alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar patrons
- Checking customers’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age
- Restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies
- Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register
- Maintaining a clean work and concert area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment
- Complying with all food and beverage regulations
Requirements and skills
- Previous bartending and customer service experience a plus
- Must have a high school diploma
- Must be able to operate/learn a digital Point-Of-Sale system (Square)
- Must meet state minimum age to serve alcohol.
- Must have the availability to work nights and weekends
- Must have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills
- Must have strong task and time management abilities.
- Must have the ability to stand, walk, bend, etc. for extended periods, and lift boxes up to 40 lbs.
- The ideal candidate has a positive and engaging personality, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and presents a professional appearance while on the job
- Passion for music and the arts a plus
