Artists Ink is seeking a passionate and experienced YOLI Music Mentor to support in-school and after-school programming in partnership with Santa Rita Union School District and Chualar Union Elementary School. This role is ideal for a teaching artist who believes in the power of music as a tool for self-expression, cultural connection, and youth development.
About Yoli Music
Yoli Music blends the teaching of modern and traditional music styles while encouraging multimedia exploration and the integration of multiple art forms and technologies. Students gain foundational skills in music composition and production while developing and expressing their own personal style.
Position Summary
The Music Teaching Artist will guide students through hands-on learning in both traditional and contemporary music practices, while introducing tools for digital composition, recording, and performance. This role is ideal for an artist-educator passionate about bridging music, culture, and technology to inspire student creativity.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach music fundamentals, composition, and production to middle/high school students.
- Incorporate both modern and traditional music forms into lessons.
- Encourage creative exploration using multimedia and technology.
- Support students in developing their own unique musical voices and projects.
- Foster a classroom environment that values collaboration, creativity, and cultural identity.
- Document student progress and contribute to program evaluations.
Qualifications
- Experience as a teaching artist or music educator.
- Strong background in music composition, production, or performance (traditional and/or modern).
- Familiarity with music technology, multimedia tools, and cross-disciplinary approaches.
- Commitment to youth development, creativity, and community-centered teaching.
