Hand Stainer

SUMMARY
Creates the blend-to-sample stain by mixing tints and clear base provided to then apply by hand to raw wood or composite material using staining napkins.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Views rack to select orders with most priority
• Retrieves order, wood, and sample to workstation
• Reviews order to understand the process needed to complete and verify correctness of color book, wood species, number of sticks, correct profile and any special instructions (if applicable)
• Inspects materials or products for damage or for conformity to specifications
• Selects a pre-used stain closest in color to the color sample and adjust as needed
• Begins by following the prescribed color check process to ensure stain blends with the sample provided in the color book, tweaking the stain to more closely blend to sample if necessary
• Applies stain by hand using rags or napkins provided
• Records production entry into ERP system
• Discards waste in appropriate containers and to appropriate waste streams according to prescribed manner
• Keeps area clean, functional and well maintained
• Assists other coworkers, areas or departments as needed
• Displays company values in everyday conduct
• Will report to work on time, alert and ready for production at designated start time
• Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to pass Hue Test Color Discrimination test
• Ability to meet or exceed production standards for quality and quantity
• Ability to interpret and complete various forms
• Ability to work various shifts for training, permanent shifts and potential new and/or overtime shifts
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude
• Ability to identify and resolve problems or seek assistance in a timely manner and take direction
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Respond promptly to internal and external customer needs and resolve all issues satisfactorily
• Prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently
• Ability to consistently meet or exceed deadlines
• Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 5 years of manufacturing Staining or Painting experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• English competency preferred
• Bilingual a plus

Compensation

• $25.00 -$27.00 per hour based on experience and work 40 hour work week.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into units of measure

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds for completing orders, sample books, and supplies
• Continuous standing and moving about during the duration of shift(s)
• Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs, push and pull

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Employee will be subjected to manufacturing environment including hot and cold temperatures, noise, dust, dirt and odors
