Position SummaryThe Plumbing Manager oversees daily operations of the plumbing department, ensuring high-quality service delivery, compliance with safety standards, and efficient project execution. This role provides leadership to plumbing technicians, manages workflow, supports strategic planning, and ensures customer satisfaction. The Plumbing Manager is responsible for budgeting, scheduling, training, and developing a team capable of meeting organizational goals.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations ManagementOversee day-to-day plumbing operations, including service calls, installations, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency, safety, and quality.Coordinate project schedules, dispatching, and resource allocation to ensure timely completion of work.Manage inventory, equipment upkeep, and procurement of supplies and materials.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, mentor, and supervise a team of plumbers, apprentices, and support staff.Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and support continued skill development.Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training processes.Promote a positive, collaborative work environment with a focus on accountability and excellence.Compliance & SafetyEnsure all work complies with local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations.Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular jobsite safety audits.Maintain accurate records of permits, inspections, and compliance documentation.Customer & Stakeholder RelationsServe as primary point of contact for customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.Resolve escalated customer concerns with professionalism and urgency.Provide detailed project estimates, timelines, and status updates.Financial ManagementAssist with departmental budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.Monitor labor costs, material expenses, and job profitability.Review invoices, approve timesheets, and track departmental KPIs.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.Journeyman or Master Plumber License5–10 years of progressive experience in plumbing, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial plumbing environments (depending on company focus).Skills & AbilitiesStrong leadership, communication, and team-building capabilities.Solid understanding of plumbing systems, codes, and best practices.Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.Proficiency with scheduling software, service management systems, and basic computer applications.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Physical RequirementsAble to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various physical environments (heights, confined spaces, outdoors).Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.Working ConditionsCombination of office work and field supervision.Occasional evening, weekend, or on-call responsibilities depending on operational needs.
