What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at Artisan Kitchens?
Primary: Safety Programs & Administration
- Administer and maintain company safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA and state agencies)
- Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Maintain OSHA logs (300, 300A, 301) and required regulatory reporting
- Track and report key safety metrics (TRIR, DART, incident trends, leading indicators)
- Develop and support plant safety training
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory
- Support emergency preparedness planning and drills
- Lead safety committee meetings and follow up on action items
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to implement risk-reduction initiatives
- Assist with workers’ compensation claim documentation and follow-up
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Human Resources, or related field preferred
- 2–5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
- Experience with OSHA compliance and recordkeeping required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and regulatory compliance requirements
- Ability to conduct investigations and perform root cause analysis
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
- Strong communication and training facilitation skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate across departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
