BASIC FUNCTIONS|
This is a key position of the Site Leadership Team in the Safety, Health & Environmental Sustainability area of expertise. The primary objective of the role is to protect and improve the safety of our employees and our Site environmental sustainability through prevention, encouraging a culture of caring where safety, health and environmental sustainability are ingrained as a core value.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
Position also includes, but is not limited to the following:
· Develop framework for SH&E in the plant regarding accountability, communication, training, core safety, procedures, hazard recognition, and control process, safety auditing, industrial hygiene programs, environmental compliance and implementing guidelines.
· Conduct initial and refresher training for all OSHA and core SH&E programs.
· Coordinate/facilitate all environmental training for Site (Hazmat, Waste Treatment, SPCC/SWPP, etc.).
· Perform safety audits throughout the facility for three shifts.
· Maintain regulatory documentation such as OSHA 300 logs and any other regulatory compliance obligation.
· Lead the implementation and utilization of risk assessment processes in the Site to ensure these are effective at identifying and mitigating hazards.
· Provide advice and counsel to Management, first line supervisors, and employee groups on a broad range of occupational safety issues and decisions.
· Manage and maintain safety data sheets (SDS) inventory and distribution.
· Ensure Site maintains continuous “audit ready” state for compliance with company SH&E policies and procedures as well as all applicable external regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, MASSDEP, etc.)
· Manage emergency response incidents.
· Work with Human Resources in managing Workers Compensation Claims and Return to Work Programs.
· Conduct investigations pertaining to all SH&E related incidents to ensure 'root cause(s)' have been identified and that appropriate corrective action has been completed to prevent recurrence.
· Chairperson of Safety Committee.
· Partner with Factory PSM/RMP coordinator to ensure compliance with PSM and RMP requirements where applicable.
· Create and maintain listings of approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and suppliers to assure safety and cost control.
· Coordinate all aspects of resource use, pollution reduction and waste management.
· Review, analyze, critique and/or approve engineering design development reports, plans and specifications for compliance with environmental laws and regulations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental sciences, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
· 5-7 years’ experience in safety, specifically in area of legal/OSHA compliance and policies and procedures.
· Thorough knowledge of applicable government regulations, safety and environmental compliance, and industrial hygiene.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
