Position Overview
The Music Shop Coordinator’s primary responsibility is running and growing the Artichoke instrument shop.
The shop will be your home base. This role focuses on maintaining a welcoming, organized retail space while helping customers learn about instruments and find what they need.
The position also supports evening venue operations during concerts and community events.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, community-minded, and comfortable working with musicians, volunteers, and audiences. A calm, positive attitude and a good sense of humor are essential.

Salary / Benefits
$20 per hour to start, Two weeks paid vacation

Schedule: Wed – Sun, between 2:00 -10:00 PM; 30-40 hours per week
Primary Responsibilities
Music Shop Operations (Primary Role)
The shop is the heart of this position.
● Learn about our inventory and instruments in order to confidently assist customers ● Maintain shop cleanliness, merchandising, signage, and visual presentation ● Monitor inventory levels; restock, reorder, and manage consignment documentation ● Maintain accurate inventory listings on the store website
● Oversee daily retail operations including cash handling and financial accountability ● Package and ship instruments and merchandise as needed
● Respond to shop email and voicemail within 24 hours (Wednesday–Sunday)
A strong interest in learning about musical instruments — especially acoustic instruments — is essential.
Marketing & Store Promotion
● Post regularly on the shop Instagram highlighting instruments and store activity ● Create and share Instrument of the Week features
● Help promote shop inventory and venue activity online
Venue Support
During evening events, the role helps ensure the venue runs smoothly.
● Manage bar inventory including drinks and snacks
● Train and support volunteer bar and door staff
● Open and prepare the venue for events
● Set up green room, seating, and signage
● Greet and support artists during load-in and soundcheck
● Close the venue at the end of the night for most events
General Operations
● Maintain incident logs and communicate issues appropriately
● Produce monthly calendars and basic graphics for the venue and shop ● Ensure cleaning, janitorial, and office supplies are stocked and organized
