Primary Purpose: The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of quality technicians, ensuring products meet safety and quality standards, and managing lab operations and testing. Key duties include training and scheduling staff, monitoring production lines, conducting quality checks, and ensuring compliance with food safety programs like HACCP and SQF. The role requires a strong leader with experience in food manufacturing and good communication and problem-solving skills. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance of quality requirements in relation to certifications, customer, state and federal standards
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing & Laboratory practices, programs and policies
  • Daily GMP audits to ensure an effective transition from sanitation to production
  • Knowledge of routine checks for leakers, gas levels, temperature, weights, product moisture and product appearance and able to conduct testing when necessary
  • Knowledge of line audits per product specifications and food safety checks and able to perform checks when necessary                                                  
  • Provide feedback to managers when quality related discrepancies, violations or other issues that occur and need to be resolved
  • Investigate quality issues to identify root causes and potential solutions
  • Liaison between QA technicians and production
  • Support Quality Manager during facility visits, audits and inspections
  • Retrieve documentation and records, track down needed individuals and any other information or people as requested during the audit process
  • Perform environmental sampling using aseptic techniques, including but not limited to: clean equipment, water, in-process liquids, air and employee hand swabs
  • Gather environmental samples and coordinate shipment of samples to contract laboratories for analysis
  • Perform ATP swabs
  • Ensure chemical concentrations are within specifications
  • Conduct testing for No Burn and communicate results
  • Enter data into appropriate spreadsheets
  • Engage production employees in Good Manufacturing Practices, programs and policies to educate and improve compliance
  • Facilitate training sessions with employees when quality programs or policies are implemented or changed
  • Back up QA Project technician when not available
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education, Qualities and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or similar degree or food manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently
  • Effective collaboration and influence skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) preferred
  • Attention to detail; thorough and accurate in work

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervise a team of quality technicians.

Work Environment:

Work environment fluctuates between office, laboratory setting and food production areas.  Standing is required for 90% of work shift.  Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, squat and twist.  Must be able to occasionally lift 25-50lbs.  Temperatures range from 30°-100°F.  Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in required areas.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salaried position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Expectations of 45-50 hours per week, to be worked during normal business hours.

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements for an office environment typically include:

1. Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation.
2. Typing: Frequent use of hands to type on a keyboard and operate a computer mouse.
3. Visual Requirements: Extended periods of viewing a computer screen and reading printed or digital documents.
4. Mobility: Occasional walking or standing, including moving between different areas of the office.
5. Manual Dexterity: The ability to handle office equipment, such as phones, printers, and copiers, and to file documents.
6. Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with colleagues, clients, and vendors.
7. Lifting: Occasionally lifting and carrying light objects, typically up to 20 pounds, such as files, documents, or office supplies.
8. Reaching and Bending: Reaching above shoulder height and bending to access files and office supplies.
9. Hearing: Adequate hearing ability to participate in meetings and teleconferences.

Compensation and Benefits:

The budgeted salary range for this position is $73,000-$93,000, with a 10% annual bonus potential.
