Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our team at Arthur Cassell Transitional House for Veterans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service, production, and with experience in dining environments. This role requires a commitment to food safety and quality, as well as the ability to manage kitchen operations effectively. The Chef will play a crucial role in menu planning and ensuring that our residents receive meals in accordance to USDA, FDA, and VA standards.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Ensures kitchen runs in accordance with all applicable health, safety, and hygiene codes and standards.
- Creates and modifies the menu based on food trends, food costs, patron requests, and seasonal availability.
- Oversees stocking, ordering, and notifying director for purchasing of ingredients, ensuring that necessary ingredients are available and as fresh as possible while also minimizing spoilage and waste.
- Maintains and inspects kitchen equipment and utensils. Relays any needed repairs to the clinical director at ACTH, who reports these to the director of operations.
- Maintains kitchen budget.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- Relevant experience or training, which may be demonstrated via degree or certificate, completion of apprenticeship, or other experience necessary to become trained as a highly skilled professional cook.
- At least two years of culinary managerial experience required.
- Business experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, preparing, and cooking food.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
