Main Objective: Lead, conduct, and coordinate FEA-based research and simulation studies to support product development, MR safety, and regulatory submissions for implantable medical devices.

Main Objective: Lead, conduct, and coordinate FEA-based research and simulation studies to support product development, MR safety, and regulatory submissions for implantable medical devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and validate Finite Element Models (FEMs) for structural, thermal, and nonlinear analysis using tools like Ansys Workbench, or COMSOL Multiphysics.
- Conduct FEA tests and validate results with experimental data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define simulation requirements and interpret results.
- Design and execute test methods to support model validation and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in MR safety and FEA for implantable devices.
- Document simulation results and provide engineering recommendations.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends in MRI safety and simulation technologies.
- Design and perform biomechanical research studies to support product testing needs, including feasibility, product verification, regulatory submission, and post-market analysis.
- Participate in the writing, preparation, and submission process of scientific articles.
- Perform mechanical testing studies by preparing test samples, data collection, record keeping, and statistical analysis.
- Perform preventative maintenance and regular calibrations on laboratory equipment.
- Maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness.
- Operate a variety of materials testing machines, gauges, and software to obtain requested testing results.
- Maintain and update records of work performed to contribute to team and personal metrics.
- Minimal travel and some flexibility of work hours may be required, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Must comply with all laboratory safety instructions and wear PPE as appropriate for various activities.
- Bachelors degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field and a minimum 2 years of FEA testing experience in a laboratory setting
- Master’s degree in a relevant field with minimum 1 year of FEA testing experience
- PhD in a relevant field
- Experience with CAD and simulation tools required
- Basic understanding of FEA principles and CAD modeling. Exposure to simulation tools.
- General understanding of mechanical and biomechanical testing methods and principles
- Able to complete data analysis, statistical comparisons, and write technical reports
- General understanding of Good Document Practices
- Able to use Microsoft Office software and some CAD software experience
- Proficient in structural and nonlinear FEA. Familiar with MR safety concepts.
- Able to operate a variety of mechanical testing machines and collect testing data
- Knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy
- Familiar with orthopedic implants and surgical techniques
- Familiar with ASTM testing standards
- Able to use multiple software platforms for data analysis, statistics, and CAD
- Able to build simple FEMs, run basic simulations, and document results
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office software and CAD software
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Comfortable writing technical reports
- Understanding of statistical analysis and being able to use statistical software
- Ability to perform peer-reviewed literature searches
- Able to run simulations, correlate with test data, and troubleshoot models.
- Able to recognize abnormal testing results and identify the source
- Proficient in mechanical testing equipment and methods
- Accurate record keeping and applies Good Document Practices
