Main Objective

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing foundational clinical and administrative support to medical providers while ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality patient experience for our corporate medical clinics servicing employees and their families. This role performs routine clinical duties, assists with patient care, documents accurately in the electronic medical record, adheres to ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognizes and responds to emergencies and supports daily clinic operations. This position is designed to develop clinical proficiency, accuracy, professionalism, and operational consistency.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Room patients efficiently and prepare patients for examination
• Obtain and document accurate vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, height, weight and oxygen saturation
• Document chief complaint
• Prepare examination and procedure rooms
• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection
• Conduct point of care testing including COVID, influenza, Strep, RSV, urinalysis, etc.
• Administer immunizations according to clinic protocols and state regulations
• Process laboratory specimens appropriately
• Assist providers with routine procedures and prescription refills
• Obtain medical records and test results
• Process referrals and diagnostic testing requests
• Schedule follow-up appointments and testing as directed
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas
• Restock exam rooms and clinical supplies
• Follow infection prevention and safety protocols
• Participate in team meetings and training activities
• Assists with answering phones, greeting patients, collecting personal and medical history, verifying insurance coverage, scheduling appointments and assisting with administrative functions.
  
  

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of Medical Assistant training program preferred
• Current BLS certification required or obtained within designated time frame
• Prior outpatient clinical experience preferred
  
  

Knowledge And Skills

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Accurate documentation and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Professionalism and patient-centered care
• Knowledge of HIPAA and infection control standards
• Current certification and skill in basic life support (BLS) or ability to complete within 3 months of hire
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently
• Spanish speaking a plus
• Experienced with EMR systems a plus
