The Research Department in Naples, FL is responsible for supporting all benchtop and clinical research testing endeavors across all product portfolios. Specifically, the Biomechanical Research Team is responsible for mechanical and biomechanical research studies to create timely scientific evidence for our techniques and products. We are searching for a Co-op pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering to support the Biomechanical Research Team. The successful candidate will work on cadaveric research studies, perform tasks as literature review, biomechanical testing, data capture and analysis, and manuscript writing. All lab work will be supervised by an engineer of the research team.
This Co-op will run from January 2026 – June 2026. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

The selected Co-op will also assist the biomechanical research team with all phases of in-house cadaveric biomechanical research studies, from initial literature review through manuscript preparation.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist research engineers with literature review and study design, preparation, and execution.
- Sample preparations, including cadaveric dissections.
- Biomechanical tests, including tension, compression, torsion, and bending test methods.
- Data analysis, including statistical modeling and graphical representations of outcomes.
- Data entry, record keeping, organization, and filtering of the research study database.
- Technical writing of internal reports and manuscripts.
- Progress towards a college degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering required. A college junior or above preferred. (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)
- Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior research experience at an R1 research institution preferred.
- Biomechanical research experience preferred.
- Publication experience preferred.
- Advanced computer skills required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel required.
- MATLAB or prior coding experience required.
- Computer-aided design experience (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) preferred.
- Knowledge of biomechanical testing principles required.
- Anatomy and physiology knowledge preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions required.
- Mechanical testing systems (e.g., Instron/MTS) preferred.
- Mechanical workshop tools, including drills, bandsaws, screwdrivers, and wrenches required.
- Basic setup or assembly experience using vises/clamps, nuts, bolts, and screws required.
