Position Summary
The High School Energy/Oil & Gas Instructor delivers Career Technical Education (CTE) instruction aligned with New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) CTE standards. This position prepares students for high-demand careers in the oil and gas industry through classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and industry-recognized certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare curriculum aligned to New Mexico standards and industry requirements
- Teach oil and gas fundamentals aligned to New Mexico standards
- Provide hands-on instruction in safety, equipment, production, and industry practices
- Prepare students for industry credentials (e.g., OSHA 10, NCCER, or equivalent)
- Maintain a safe, organized lab and classroom environment
- Assess student progress and maintain required CTE documentation
- Collaborate with district staff, industry partners, and CTE advisory committees
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma and 5 years of industry experience OR Certificate and 3 years of industry experience OR Associate’s degree and 2 years of industry experience OR Bachelor's degree including 32 credit hours of vocational-technical training related to the occupational area
- Oil and gas industry experience
- Ability to obtain a New Mexico Vocational-Technical teaching license through NMPED
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of oil and gas industry experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Teaching, training, or mentoring experience
- Industry certifications (OSHA, NCCER, etc.)
